Saint John the Baptist was born through the intercession of God to Zacarriah and Elizabeth. His ministry started in 30 AD and focused on baptizing people in the Jordan River, preparing them for the coming of Jesus. He then baptized Jesus and his popularity grew immensely. He was eventually arrested and imprisoned by King Herod. He was beheaded by King Herod at the wish of King Herod’s daughter who was upset that John condemned her father’s marriage.
