Saint John the Apostle (or the Evangelist) was on the Twelve Apostles of Jesus. His older brother was St. James the Great, another Apostle of Jesus. John ended up being the oldest Apostle and the only one not to die as a martyr. In the Bible, John is the one who witnessed Jesus in the Agony in Gethsemane, was one of the two sent to prepare for the Passover, and is the only Apostle who was there during the Passion. Jesus made John the guardian of Mary after his death. Saint John is the author of the Gospel of John, three Epistles, and the Book of Revelation.
