Saint Clare found the Order of Poor Ladies, which was closely affiliated with Saint Francis of Assisi’s Franciscan Order. She is the sister of Saint Agnes. Although beautiful and constantly pursued by suitors, she dedicated her life to the poor and denied herself of earthly pleasures. When Assisi was attacked, she ran carrying the pyx of the Blessed Sacrament and prayed for help. The Blessed Sacrament shone a ray of brilliant light in response and answered her prayers.
