Saint Catherine was a laywoman the 25th child born to her mother! At 21, she had a “mystical marriage to Christ” which began her mission to help the poor and sick. She was involved in politics and helped restore the papacy to Rome. She was declared a “Doctor of the Church” due to the influence of her many letters and works.
